Dr Susan Lim
Dr Susan Lim is a Surgeon, scientist and entrepreneur with over three decades of clinical and surgical experience, with interests including Robotic Surgery and technologies to improve minimally invasive surgical approaches
Dr Susan Lim has pioneered the robotic surgery program in general surgery in Singapore. Throughout Dr Lim’s distinguished career she has received several fellowships, awards and scholarships.
She has studied transplantation for three and a half years under Sir Roy Calne, knighted by the Queen for his pioneering work in transplantation in the UK, and visited and trained for a short period in the Departments of Professor Thomas Starzl, the pioneer in Liver Transplantation, based in Pittsburgh, and in pancreas and islet cell transplants under Professor John Najarian and Professor David Sutherland in Minneapolis.
She holds a PhD in transplantation immunology. Her inspirational talk about transplanting cells instead of organs is featured on TED Talks. Dr Lim continues her interest in the field of robotic surgery, in automation and artificial intelligence, and has spoken about the future of robotic surgery, as a part of her talk on her journey to New Frontiers in Organ Replacement at INK Asia 2016.
